Frequently Asked Questions

Built for the Great Lakes. Built for you.

Do I need fishing experience?

Not at all. We welcome everyone — from first-timers to seasoned anglers chasing a personal best. We’ll guide you through every step of the way.

Do I need a fishing license?

Yes — everyone 16 and older needs a Wisconsin fishing license plus a Great Lakes Salmon Stamp. A 2-day option including the Salmon Stamp runs $14 and is available at the WI Go Wild website. You’ll need a printed hard copy while on Lake Michigan.

How many people can come?

Captain Jeff is licensed for up to 6 passengers per trip.

Is there an age limit?

No official age limit — but in our experience, kids under 6 can struggle with the slow rolling of the waves and may get seasick. We especially love taking kids ages 8–16. Many catch the biggest fish of their lives, which is exciting for everyone aboard.

How many fish can we keep?

Wisconsin’s daily bag limit for combined trout and salmon is 5 fish per person.

What if the weather is bad?

Safety is our top priority. We fish in the rain, but if conditions are too windy or rough, Captain Jeff will notify you and make every possible effort to reschedule. If a trip is canceled because it’s not fishable, your deposit will be refunded in full.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancel at least 72 hours before your trip and your deposit will be refunded. Cancellations inside 72 hours are non-refundable.

Do I need to bring fishing rods?

Nope — all gear is included. We take pride in having top-notch equipment on board. When a 30 lb King rips out 500 feet of line, you’ll be glad we brought the good stuff.

What's included in the trip?

USCG Licensed Captain, First Mate, rods, reels, tackle, fish cleaning, and plenty of dad jokes.

What should I bring?

Your fishing license, snacks, drinks (alcohol is welcome for guests 21+ — no glass for safety), hat and sunglasses, a camera, a cooler for your fish, your favorite music playlist, soft-soled shoes, rain gear, warm layers, and your own dad jokes.
